Today marks the start of a new beginning for PF Jones as the company amalgamates with Potteries Diesel (Staffs) Ltd. Although the two companies have long utilised their similarities and benefited from one another, from today, September 1st 2017, Potteries will no longer be limited company and PF Jones grows into a larger and stronger brand and company.
Les Bailey took over as owner and managing director of Stoke-on-Trent’s Potteries Diesel Ltd over 20 years ago, shortly after buying PF Jones in Manchester. The companies operated in similar fields as diesel part reconditioning centres to the trade, since then Potteries has developed other characteristics of the PF Jones brand supplying and fitting towbars to the Stoke-on-Trent area. As Potteries grew in both market and physical building size, not only did it became a depot for PF Jones stocking large amounts of towbars ready for distribution, it developed its own product and service portfolio which now includes speciality diesel injectors and campervan conversions.
At the same time, PF Jones has grown from a diesel repair centre to a successful business both online and offline serving both B2B and B2C markets. With the help of a successful e-commerce website and eBay shop, PF Jones is the number one supplier of towbars to the UK market used by both traders and the general public. With the help of the Stoke-on-Trent depot for warehousing they are able to stock large amounts of towbars to meet the high demand. As a strong reputation within the towbar market, PF Jones has been able to give Potteries in Stoke an edge over competitors by association. With both companies using each other’s strengths to benefit both business and the customer, it was a natural move to amalgamate the companies under the PF Jones brand name.
PF Jones now operates over three sites with the depot in Stoke-on-Trent, a towbar fitting centre in Wigan and the head office which is located in Manchester allowing them to provide goods and services in and around these locations. Customers within a 30 mile radius of these locations can benefit from free delivery (same day for traders) and free collection for diesel repairs and testing.
One of the most important objectives for the next stage of PF Jones is strengthen the position of the brand as a market leader in the automotive supplies and services industry. Not only does this merger mean that the company is larger but it means that the brand reaches a wider audience. Although Potteries has always been associated with PF Jones, both can now benefit from the reputation of PF Jones – which has built over the years to an excellent level.
Now that PF Jones covers Manchester, Wigan and Stoke-on-Trent successfully, it can look forward into possible future expansions further afield with the aim to cover the whole of the UK for both traders and general public.
