Easter egg hunts are the perfect addition to any Easter celebration. They encourage the children to stay out of the house ensuring that they are kept busy looking for the chocolate, although this may not be the healthiest option, it can teach the children how to use clues and methods of deductions to be able to find the eggs, you can make the Easter egg hunt as interactive or as simple as you require, the main aim is to keep the children busy and having fun whilst searching for chocolate which the Easter bunny has hidden, and is a great way to help the children still have fun with their school friends for a day in the holidays when they maybe would not usually see them.
If you’re living in Greater Manchester or the surrounding area there will be a Duck Race which will return to the River Irwell on Good Friday. This is the eighth year the event will be taking place due to its previous successes. Thousands of families attend and watch as a flock of rubber ducks enter the water. The event is free to attend and watch, and only costs £1 to buy a duck and enter it into the race. All proceeds from the race go to the children’s charity “Brainwave”. Families have the option of decorating their ducks so as to be able to spot theirs as the race goes on.
Going on a bike ride with the kids is a brilliant way to keep them entertained; you can bring your bikes with you to your destination easily with one of our cycle carriers. Cycling is the perfect activity to keep the children busy for a full day whilst simultaneously tiring them out so that you as a parent can have the evening to yourself.
In the event of downpours, which if you’re living in the north like us, are probably inevitable, then baking is always a completely viable option. Being prepared in the house with recipe books, easy bake boxes, and good old flour and sugar can make a day that was supposed to be spent outside in the sun seem like the rain has not ruined their fun. Easy treats that require minimal effort like jam tarts and Victoria sponge mean throughout the baking process it is easy to make smaller children feel like they have done the majority of the baking and have contributed heavily to the process. Simply purchasing cupcakes and making an activity out of decorating them can provide endless hours of fun for the children.
Museums are a brilliant way to keep the children entertained during term breaks whilst still educating their minds, many museums are free to the public and this is because they feel it is important for people to be able to learn about history. All national museums have free entry meaning there are over 50 free national museums across the UK let alone any other local ones and galleries which if aren’t free can often be accessed at a discounted price when attending with children.
Visiting theme parks is a brilliant option to spend a day or two riding rollercoasters and having fun with the family, there are a few big ones to choose from, but choosing carefully has got to be the most important part of the trip, if you’re planning on going to Alton towers then staying in the adjoining hotel will get you access to the park 1 hour earlier than other guests which makes the trip worth it to be able to utilise the time in the park better without the crowds. Alton Towers is a brilliant theme park, but is known for its long queues. If you are planning on taking a trip overnight to make the most of your time then relieve the stress of packing by using one of roof boxes to bring everything you think you might need.
The main thing to remember to do with the children whilst on their holidays is to have fun, they don’t stay young for long and they’ll be back to school before you know it!
