The new Seat Ateca

The Ateca is Seat’s first SUV and was launched in direct competition with the Nissan Qashqai, Hyundai Tucson and Skoda Yeti. It comes in a choice of petrol or diesel engine and front or four wheel drive versions and different ones will appeal to different tow drivers.  With a legal towing limit of 2100kg the Seat Ateca does extremely well for a car of its size and weight, and has a noseweight limit of 80kg – depending on the version of this vehicle of course, tow bars for the vehicle can be purchased at PF Jones who offer a nationwide fitting service. The heaviest models are the vehicles which have the added weight of the 4×4 hardware making these the heavier duty towers. With 295lb ft of torque the engine in this new SUV matches the pulling power of the equivalent Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage without much effort. The gears on this vehicle allow it to be confident within overtaking and produce no loss of speed whilst towing a caravan. The Seat Ateca is an impressive towing car because of its speed and agility despite its size. In a lane change test as performed by Practical Caravan there was no movement from the vehicle at all and it handles itself well even when travelling at motorway speeds. This powerful 4×4 certainly proves that it can drive as a very successful tow car as well as a solo car. Without a caravan hitched it provides precise steering and a level of agility which is surprising for a car of its size and stature, the Seat Drive Profile allows the driver to choose different modes for the steering, throttle and gearbox. There is enough space in the rear of the cabin for adults to travel in comfort, but if opting to carry three in the back then one person will feel cramped due to the large transmission tunnel. The Ateca has 510 litres of boot space available which is more than key rivals and competitors and is a reasonable amount available to load up with luggage with the caravan in tow.
