Available in Renault dealerships  since September this year , the newly re-designed and re-engined Trafic is going head-to-head with the Ford Transit Custom and looks set to give the French automative manufacturer ‘s UK sales an always welcome boost.

Following the introduction of the van version in September, Renault  has also extended the new Trafic range of vehicles with the addition of a people carrier version, the new Trafic Combi.

The gross payload capacities for the new updated Trafic extend from approaching 1,100kg to nearly 1,250kg according to the model or version chosen and the latest Trafic is reported as being capable of towing a braked trailer grossing at up to 2,000kg according to the manufacturer.

Aware that many owners and operators of the vehicle will want to utilise the ability to tow, the Trafic can also be specified with  a new safety feature called Trailer Swing Assist technology.

If swaying of the trailer is detected, the safety system alternately applies the brakes and limits the delivery of engine torque until the swaying is hopefully halted. Engine torque is limited and the brakes applied in such a way that the swaying will be brought under control.

Most commonly used type of tow bar in the U.K. is still the Flange, where the tow ball is bolted to the tow bar. It is also the most versatile design of tow bar because it can be used with many tow ball mounted accessories like bumper protectors, stabilisers and cycle carriers . All mounted between the tow bar & ball.
